Is There A Connection Between Faith and Health?
February 27, 2012 in Faith, Health, Patient Adherance/ Compliance
As we roll out our new site, I would like to kick off with a re-start to writing on the blog. People often ask “what do you do?”. Depending on who I’m talking to, my reply is “I’m a ‘Faith and Health’ coach”. As we both stand there in the awkward silence, I wait for the question that I know is coming next….”what’s that?“.
While that is a fair question, I wish more people would ask “Is there a need for that?”. That question is so much easier, because I can point to statistics and articles that show numbers and explanations. You see, the connection between faith and improvement in health has been studied over and over, and they keep coming up with the same results: People who include faith into their healthcare have better outcomes than those who don’t.
Scientists are finally catching up with what people already know—a personal relationship with God helps us make sense out of illness. It gives hope. It changes health-related behavior and thus reduces the risk of disease. – Christian Medical Association “Standards 4 Life” Faith and Health Publication
